Hello everyone, I'm Javier Balderas from the Warmke Real Estate Group, and in this article, I'll be discussing movies under the stars...right from your own home!

While this might reveal my age, have you ever experienced a drive-through theater? I distinctly remember my childhood visits to drive-ins, where we would all chip in money and even conceal some of our friends to sneak into the drive-in. Fond memories include watching movies from the bed of a truck, sitting in lawn chairs, and listening to the movie through a little 4 x 4 metal box with a cord. These moments truly take me back to the innocent and nostalgic times of the past.

But why am I even thinking or talking about this? For those who have experienced it and wish to relive those glory days, or for those who want to taste a bit of that era, here are some simple tips to recreate the experience at home with your friends, family, or even a simple block party.

First and foremost, you'll need a projector. Coordinate with family or friends to determine if anyone already owns one; otherwise, you might need to make a purchase. Personally, I opted for the cheapest, most basic model available. Yes, the cheapest and most basic one that supports casting from mobile devices or has a USB/C-drive connection. Why choose the least expensive option? Well, because it's not the primary way we watch movies, and it helps match the vintage feel of a drive-through screen. After all, we're not aiming for an IMAX theater experience; we're recreating the magic of the past. Of course, feel free to go for higher quality if that's your preference.

Next comes the audio. Most people have portable speakers, so grab yours or look for a projector with built-in speakers. Place the speaker close to where you'll be sitting, much like the 4 x 4 audio box we used to hang on our vehicle windows. With this step complete, you're halfway there— yes, only halfway to setting up your own backyard "drive-in" movie.

Plan out your projection screen using a white sheet or a light-colored exterior wall. You might need to get creative in how you hang the sheet, or if you're willing to invest, check out the various outdoor screen options on Amazon at different price points. Lastly, the most crucial elements for your experience are popcorn, snacks, and ice-cold beverages of your family's choice. Personally, I enjoy bottled RC Colas or glass-bottled Dr. Pepper with some popcorn.

Finally, you'll need some trusty lawn chairs. You might also want to light some citronella candles to keep pesky insects at bay and apply natural bug-repellent body spray to prevent unwanted critters from hitching a ride on your clothing. With these preparations in place, you're all set up! Enjoy quality family time or a cozy movie night with your loved one under the stars.
